Bibendum dinner with Pirramina wines

MARGARET Richards Taylor and her son Hans Eulenhoefer of Bibendum Wines organized a dinner at La Tavolata in Design Center, at A.S. Fortuna.

They invited close friends who appreciate pairings with fine wines, in this case with the Pirramina label from the McLaren Vale in Australia.

A special menu was designed for the discriminating gourmets and gourmands gathered for this singular occasion Each course was paired with an appropriate wine.

There to elucidate on the pairings were Pirramina’s winemaker Mark Conroy, and Raymond Joseph of Philippine Wine Merchants, which distributes Pirramina wines in the Philippines.

So the menu and the pairings went:
Smoked salmon and potatoes – 2015 Pirramina White Label McLaren Vale Adelaide Hills French Oak Chardonnay.
Crab and grouper cheviche – 2015 Pirramina White Label 303 Watervale Riesling.
Gnocchi and Taleggio with wild mushrooms – 2013 Pirramina McLaren Vale Tempranillo.
Short ribs with carrots and herb polenta – 2012 Pirramina McLaren Vale War Horse Shiraz.
Gorgonzola dolce DOP with onion jam, crackers and spiced hazelnuts – 2013 Pirramina Ironstone McLaren Vale Petit Verdot.
