THE SACRED Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles captured the title in the San Remigio Properties-Magis Eagles International Friendship Games with a resounding 76-60 victory over the Colegio de San Agustin-Victorias (CSA-V) in the finals on Sunday evening at the Ateneo de Cebu campus in Mandaue City.
With the Cesafi tournament a couple of weeks away, the Magis Eagles stepped their game up a notch and put their opponents away as early as the first period, which ended with them already ahead, 24-9. It was all Ateneo de Cebu from that point onwards as five players scored in double figures.
Typifying the Magis Eagles’ firepower was the fact that neither Andrew Velasco, who was later named as the tournament MVP, and reigning Cesafi MVP, Jed Colonia, managed to score in twin digits.
Jeremy Nacua led the boys in blue and white with 15, Coco Tuadles added 12 while Errol Pastor, Andre Chua and Renzo Calumpang added 10 apiece.
Jeffrey Manday paced the losing CSA-V with 27 markers.
