Four dead, two hurt in Oslob accident

FOUR persons died while two others were injured after the boom truck they rode in fell into a cliff in barangay Kaseres in Oslob town late Monday.

The fatalities were identified as Jon Rey Sanchez, 36, Roger Dano, legal age, Dolly Domaob, 22, and Genisa Alicanda, 47.

Sanchez and Lagundi were from Oslob town while Dano was from Gitafe town in Bohol province. Domaob is from Zamboanga del Sur.

Those injured were Franklin Prias Arizona, 41, of Barangay Capyoan, Argao and Joel Sanoy, 44, of Getafe, Bohol.

PO2 Jerwin Arado of the Oslob police precinct said Sanchez, Dano, Dolly, Sanoy and Arizo were employed as construction workers at Edana Construction based in Cebu City. But their bunk house is located in Barangay Poblacion in Oslob town.

Alicanda was hitching a ride on their way back to their bunkhouse.
PO2 Arado said the workers were headed to their bunkhouse on board a boom truck when the driver lost control and the vehicle fell into a cliff in Barangay Kanang-kaan located 20 kilometers from the town proper.

The group came from their work site in barangay Kanang-kaan where they are working on a provincial government road improvement project.

Arado said Arizo was maneuvering a downhill slope when he lost control of the truck. It took rescuers 14 hours before they recovered the victims.

Arado said Arizona and Sanoy were brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
