Man charged with murder for attack on drinking buddy

A man is facing a murder charge at the Regional Trial Court (RTC) for allegedly stabbing his drinking buddy while they argued over a past dispute last March 3.

Jelly Pace eventually died after succumbing to stab wounds allegedly inflicted by Jefferson Cudiera.

Prosecutor Ma. Johanna Desamparado-Calustre of the City Prosecutor’s Office found probable cause to indict Cudiera, who remains at large.

In her case resolution, Calustre said Cudiera failed to submit his counter-affidavit despite issuance of a subpoena last April 1, a copy of which was sent to his last known address in Purok Ube, Gun-ob, Lapu-lapu City.

The case’s information sheet showed that Cudiera and Pase were drinking liquor in sitio Paray in Barangay Kasambagan in Cebu City on March 3.

The two started to argue over a previous dispute which prompted Pase to punch Cudiera on the face. Cudiera reportedly went to his rented room and came back with a knife which he used to stab Pase several times. Cudiera fled from the scene.
