Cebu City–Due to heavy influx of registrants flocking at the Cebu City Commission on Election (Comelec) office, Comelec officer Lawyer Marchel Sarno said they decided to give out priority numbers to the first 1,000 people at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Sarno told Cebu Daily News that they will cut off registration at 5 p.m. today, which is the last day set by Comelec for registration.
“Tungod sa kabaga sa tao nihatag nalang mi og priority kutob 1,000. Kay dili ni mahuman og alas singko kung e-accomodate tanan. Maabtan ni og alas 8 sa gabii,” he said.
Sarno said they decided on the 1,000 because that is the average number of transactions they can usually accomodate in a day.
Sarno however said that should they finish accomodating all the 1,000 before 5 p.m. today, they will accommodate those who were not able to get a priority number.
As of Friday, there were already 29,969 who registered for the Sanguniang Kabataan and Barangay elections since July 15.
Sarno said they expect over a thousand registrants today.
