Carina picks up speed, may leave PH Monday

TROPICAL storm ‘Carina’ (international name Tamil) intensified its wind speed Sunday morning.

Carina is moving northwest in the country at maximum wind speed of 95 kmph and gustiness of 120 kmph.

Weather specialist Vhan Singson of the Mactan office of the state weather bureau Pagasa said Carina may make landfall in Tuguegarao today. There are also areas placed under storm signal number one and two.

Areas placed under signal number 2 include Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Apayao, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Kalinga, Abra, Cagayan and Babuyan Group of Islands.

Areas under signal number one are Batanes Group of Islands, Benguet, La Union, Nueva Viscaya, Quirino, Pangasinan, Neuva Ecija and Aurora. Carina may pass through Ilocos Norte before leaving the country tomorrow.
