CROWD FAVORITE. Renato Rivera Jr. (248) and Maria Gorritte Atillo of the Pardo Elementary School were the youngest participants in the Standard Elementary Juvenile 3 category of the Inter-School/Colleges and Universities DanceSport Challenge 2016.
GUADALUPE and Inayawan dancers delivered for their respective teams in the Grand Finale of the Cebu City Sports Commission’s Dancesports Circuit Competition yesterday at Robinson’s Galleria Cebu.
Team Gudalupe of coach Richard Sabanal snagged three gold medals while Inayawan also had a three-gold medal medal haul in the final leg of the dancesports tournament.
The tandem of Elvin John Bautista and Chrisna Angela Gabutin took home the coveted gold in the junior close standard event for Guadalupe while the pair of Malvin Jomali and Krysnell Dagpina landed first place in the youth close standard dance for their team. Jomali and Dagpina also dominated the youth open standard jig.
Inayawan’s duo of Ruden Estillore and Odette Bermudez also collared two golds in the competition. They topped the youth close latin event and youth open latin dance.
Their teammates, Alcher Zafra and Jielle Cahutay, on the other hand, ruled in the junior close latin event.
The top six winners in each category will represent the Dancesports Team Cebu City (DTCC) in the upcoming World Dancesports Federation Cebu Open on Sept. 10 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
Other teams that bagged gold medals in the tournament are Barangays Tisa, Mambaling, Pardo, and school City Central.
