Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) Director Noli Taliño yesterday urged the mother of the month-old baby boy to file a case against the flight stewardess who allegedly took the infant last Saturday.
“Her (mother) cooperation is needed. Otherwise, the case that will be filed by our police might be dismissed by the prosecutor,” Taliño told reporters.
Twenty-year-old Gelyn Salimbaga sought the assistance of the Fuente Police shortly after her baby was allegedly taken by Michelle Collamar.
Salimbaga told the police that she was carrying her baby when Collamar invited her to board the suspect’s Hyundai Eon car on Alcantara Street in Barangay Sambag I at around 10 a.m. last Saturday.
Collamar, a 28-year-old flight stewardess, allegedly offered to buy her groceries and give her P1,000.
Salimbaga was hesitant at first but eventually went with Collamar.
Insp. Armil Caloscos of the Fuente Police said Collamar drove the vehicle towards downtown Cebu City.
After a few minutes, Collamar brought Salimbaga back to Sambag I and requested the latter to get the child’s birth certificate.
Salimbaga heeded the request, disembarked from the vehicle, and got the document requested by the suspect. She left the baby inside the car with Collamar.
After getting the child’s birth certificate, she went out of their house, but the vehicle was gone.
Police investigators checked footages of closed-circuit television cameras that captured the scene.
They eventually traced the vehicle in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City.
Police recovered the baby and arrested Collamar at around 6 p.m. Collamar, who allegedly suffered from bleeding, was placed under hospital arrest at St. Vincent General Hospital.
Insp. Caloscos said Collamar might have suffered depression after the latter suffered miscarriages September last year and recently this month.
