WEEKEND races for the Ironman 70.3 in Metro Cebu will have to deal with monsoon winds and rainshowers.

Tropical storm Inday (Nakri) yesterday intensified the ’habagat” and raised the chance of rain in Central Visayas but the storm is expected toleave the country today, said Alredo Quiblat, Jr. acting chief of Mactan weather station of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and

Astronimic Services Administration (Pagasa).

Inday was estimated to be 605 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes .

But no gale warning or suspension of sea voyages were declared.

Accuweather, a private weather service, said there’s a 60 percent chance of rain on Saturday morning, when the Ironkids races take place.

By Sunday, cloudy skies and afternoon thunderstorms were predicted.

Another tropical depression in the Pacific is seen to be forming 2,500 kilometers northwest from the Philippines area of responsibilty.

If it continues on course, “Jose” may enter the country Monday next week with the international name Halong.

Quiblat said the tropical depression will likely pass above the Bicol region affecting mostly northern Luzon.
