Delivery trucks must have permits

The Cebu City Police Advisory Council (PCAC) will strictly enforce the ordinance that requires delivery trucks plying the city streets to secure delivery permits from the City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) office.

Cebu City Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella, the chairman of PCAC, said he invited Gabby Cruz, the president of the Cebu Truckers Association to the PCAC meeting next week to discuss City Ordinance 801 and how the city can regulate delivery trucks in its streets.

Labella said PCAC needs to know how many members the association has and persuade the officers to inform their members to secure delivery permits.

It is the city’s way to monitor the items being delivered and to make sure these trucks do not carry contraband.

Labella added that even delivery trucks from other towns and cities are still required to secure delivery permits if they will use Cebu City streets to get to their destination.

“Its more on prevention and regulation,” Labella said.

Citom operations head Joy Tumulak said that about 80 to 90 percent of delivery trucks passing through the city do not have delivery permits from his office.

They have already apprehended a number of trucks. Each truck will have to pay a  fine of P500.
