Fire in Calamba displaces 19 families, injures 2

CEBU CITY, Philippines — At least 19 families were displaced after a fire hit a residential compound along V. Rama Street in Barangay Calamba, Cebu City on Monday afternoon, April 13.
The blaze, which broke out at 4:39 p.m. in Quijano Compound, affected a total of 48 individuals, according to the Cebu City Fire Station.
Fire authorities said that nine residential structures burned in the incident, affecting an estimated floor area of 250 square meters.

Fire in Calamba destroys multiple homes
The property was identified as owned and occupied by Rolito Flores.
The fire was declared under control at 4:56 p.m. and fully extinguished by 5:09 p.m.
Two individuals sustained minor injuries during the fire.
Ivy Banico, 28, and Jocelyn Banico, 58, both suffered first-degree burns on their upper and lower extremities.
No fatalities were reported.
Damage, investigation
Authorities placed the estimated damage to property at ₱375,000.
As of this writing, the Bureau of Fire Protection is still investigating what caused the fire.
In March alone, 26 fires in Cebu City wiped out an estimated ₱8.7 million in property, authorities said.
The biggest of these fires took place in Barangay Kasambagan on March 7, followed by two other fires in Barangays Guadalupe and Tinago. March is Fire Prevention Month.
