Stretch of South Cotabato highway collapses after 7.8-magnitude quake

COTABATO CITY – A landslide, triggered by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck parts of Mindanao at 7:37 Monday morning, destroyed portions of the South Cotabato Highway, leading the Tboli local government to order its total closure.

In an advisory, the Tboli LGU said the highway from Barangay Tbolok towards General Santos City was impassable to all types of vehicles.

About 40 to 50 meters of the concrete road pavement have collapsed, rendering the road impassable even for motorcycles, it said./coa
