BATCH 1998/Dewfoam and CEC-E went through the wringer before escaping separate opponents last Saturday in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 15th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.
Batch ’88 edged out Batch 2009. 57-55, while CEC-E surged atop the team standings with its own two-point victory over CEC-B/PTT /Roadstar, 78-76.
Batch ’88 pocketed just its second win in four games behind the 18-point production of Gregorio Aguilar.
Richard Yu pitched in 16 markers and 10 rebounds, while Harry Villamor added 10 points for Batch ’88.
Harold James Tan produced 16 points, while Alfie Miranda Sy, Juan Carlo Suazo and Albert Sy chipped in 10 markers each for Batch 2009, which suffered its fifth defeat against a single victory.
Cedric Chua, on the other hand, led CEC-E’s sixth win in seven outings by firing 27 points.
Chua was backed by Norman Lopez and Ryan Maderazo, who tallied 18 and 10, respectively.
Roger Donayre Jr. scored 27 points, Kent Uy scattered 11 and Joel Chan piled up 10 markers and 17 rebounds in a losing cause as CEC-B slipped to 2-4 (wi-loss).
