A drug suspect who earlier surrendered to police authorities was gunned down by unidentified armed men at around 6 p.m. Thursday in Carcar City, southern Cebu.
The victim identified as Noel Larumbi, 29, and a resident of barangay Ocaña was reportedly sitting alongside the road near his house when two unidentified men on board a motorcycle suddenly stopped in front of him and fired several shots.
Larumbi sustained multiple gunshot wounds in his body and was brought to the Carcar district hospital where he died hours later.
The motive for the killing is still unknown, according to police, as Larumbi was among those who surrendered to them in the ongoing Oplan Tokhang, a government nationwide anti-drug campaign that calls on drug dealers and users to voluntarily surrender or be hunted down by police.
