The Cebu Provincial Anti-Illegal Fishing Task Force (CPAIFTF) seized one stingray, weighing between 40-50 kilos, in a market denial operation Thursday night.

According to CPAIFTF Head Lyndon Ruiz, this is the first time that the task force seized a stingray this big.

The apprehension was made at around 11:30 last night in Barangay Cotcot in Liloan town, northern Cebu.

Ruiz said the stingray came from Lipayran Island in Bantayan, northern Cebu and was headed to the Pasil Fish Market in Cebu City.

He said the estimated value of the stingray is between P4,800 to P6,000 since it’s being sold at P120 per kilo.
