CEBU CITY—Southwest monsoon or “habagat” have triggered sudden bursts of wind along N. Bacalso Avenue in Cebu City on Friday afternoon that damaged the back portion of the Cebu South Bus Terminal.

Manny John Agbay, weather specialist for Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Mactan Island, said that based on their radar, no whirlwind was monitored.

“There is no thunderstorm warning advisory issued today (Friday),” Agbay said.

Thunderstorm activities produced heavy rains, thunderstorm, lightning and waterspouts.

Joey Herrera, Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) operations manager on his Facebook post said a “whirlwind” stuck the back portion of the terminal.

“Two employees of CSBT were injured as they were inside the tents,” Herrera on his Facebook post on Friday.

Tents for passengers were destroyed.
