MILITANT groups held out hope that public opposition continue to grow against the burial of the late president Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani as they held another rally at Colon Street yesterday.

Jaime Paglinawan, regional coordinator of the militant group Bayan, said despite the pronouncement of President Rodrigo Duterte to have Marcos buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Sept. 18, their protests will continue.

He said a worldwide protest to be participated by Filipinos round the world will be held on Sept. 7 and another one will be held on Sept. 11, Marcos’ birth date.

Another rally will be held on Sept. 18, the burial date, and Sept. 21, the date when martial law was declared.

Paglinawan said they will step up their protests if the Supreme Court rules in favor of the burial.

Among local officials, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña opposed the Marcos burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, saying it insults the memory of the heroes buried there./USJ-R Intern Dafne N. Wenceslao
