PRO-7 chief asked to boost security at Hall of Justice

EXECUTIVE Judge Soliver Peras of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) has asked Regional Police Chief Noli Taliño to deploy more security personnel to secure the temporary Cebu City Hall of Justice at the Qimonda IT Center at the North Reclamation Area.

Peras, who wrote Chief Supt. Taliño in a letter dated Sept. 14, said they would need more than nine policemen to secure Qimonda because there would be at least 3,000 people entering the building everyday, and they were handling mostly drug-related cases.

Peras was also referring to the nine policemen currently assigned to secure the Palace of Justice in Qimonda.

“I have no more security escorts assigned to me. Last month, we received five drug cases from Malaybalay, Bukidnon since the judges and prosecutors inhibited themselves from handling these cases because of the attempts in their life perpetrated by alleged men of the two accused who are big time Muslim drug lords in Malaybalay,” Peras said in his letter.

He requested at least three additional policemen for Qimonda for the time being, and at least two personnel as his security escorts.

Peras also suggested that police trainees could also be deployed among the different RTC branches.

“Each branch will probably need four police trainees or a total of 120 police trainees. They will be rotated per week depending upon the number of police trainees available,” Peras said. /USJ-R Intern Dafne N. Wenceslao
