TWO pythons were captured in Lapu-Lapu City over the weekend.

Last Friday, a python measuring six feet was caught by residents in Barangay Pajac and was immediately turned over Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The second python was found in Barangay Maribago yesterday morning.

A certain Victor Oyao of Sitio Looc, Barangay Maribago noticed a big snake on top of a tree past 10 a.m. yesterday. He then called his neighbors to help him catch the snake. They successfully captured the snake and placed it on a sack and turned it over to the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro).

Rolando Leyson of Cenro said the snake measuring 10.5 feet and weighing around 10 kilos might have been looking for food such as chicken or birds that land on the trees.

Leyson explained that pythons are non-venomous snakes that kill its prey through suffocation.
