Pagasa expects clear skies next week

EXPECT sunny days in Cebu next week.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Mactan, the skies will clear after days of thunderstorm and rain in the province this week.

Pagasa weather specialist II Evangeline Tolentino said that while the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) continues to prevail, there will be more wet days in Cebu for the rest of the week.

As of 6 p.m. yesterday, the ITCZ affected Southern Luzon and reached Mindanao, prompting Pagasa to issue a thunderstorm warning to several northern and southern municipalities of Cebu.

In places across the province, rains were mostly experienced in the afternoon and evening while skies were cloudy in the morning.

Aside from ITCZ, Pagasa Mactan also continued to monitor a low pressure area (LPA) spotted at 950 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora at 4 p.m. yesterday.

Compared to the ITCZ, the LPA has not affected much of the weather condition in Cebu although there is a chance for it to develop into a tropical cyclone, Pagasa said.

Tolentino said that Pagasa expects the tropical cyclone’s track to be in Northern Luzon, and with the ITCZ and LPA out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by next week, the skies are likely to clear.
