One-Stop shop for OFWs opens in SM City Cebu

THE Department of Labor and Employment, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, and SM City Cebu formally opened the One-Stop Service Center for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) at the 2nd level of SM City Cebu.

The partner agencies established a center for OFWs inside the Government Service Express in SM City Cebu.

According to DOLE-7 Regional Director Exequiel Sarcauga, the services offered at the center will cater to the needs of workers who will be looking for employment opportunities abroad. He added that the establishment of the center is in response to the marching orders of the President through Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III to
streamline government services for OFWs.

The Maritime Industry Authority will issue Seafarers’ Identification and Record Book.

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration offers the Balik-Manggagawa Online Processing.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration will facilitate membership processing.

Customers of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) can apply for renewal of National Certificate or Certificate of Competency. Tesda will also entertain queries on its registered Technical and Vocational Institutions, Accredited Assessment Centers and online training programs.

The Pag-Ibig will facilitate membership registration and membership verification, while the Philippine Statistics Authority will facilitate issuances of certificates on birth, death, marriage, and Certificate of No Marriage (Cenomar).

The Bureau of Immigration will accommodate queries regarding overseas employment concerns as well as issue departure clearance.

The National Bureau of Investigation will process clearance for travel abroad purposes.

Requests for Certification, Authentication, and Verification (CAV) of academic records and documents will likewise be attended to by the Commission on Higher Education.

The Professional Regulation Commission will entertain applications for Board Examinations; initial registration for new Board Examinations passers and Professional Identification Cards renewals.

The Social Security System will issue SSS number, accept salary loans and requests for corrections, update members’ and employers’ data record, among others.

The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority will issue tax exemption certificate and reduced travel tax certificate, accept travel tax payments and process travel tax refund.

PhilHealth services include registration of members, record updates and printing of PhilHealth ID cards and Member Data Records.

The DOLE, for its part, will provide Labor Market Information using the Phil-JobNet, an internet-based job and applicant matching system.

The National Reintegration Center for OFWs will provide reintegration programs and services and some relevant IEC materials to OFWs.
