Last year’s runner up Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles and the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars overpowered separate opponents in a tightly contested semifinal battle Sunday night at the University of San Carlos (USC) Main gym to set up a titular showdown in the Cesafi girls’ volleyball tournament.

The Magis Eagles pulled off one of the biggest upsets in league history as they came back from the dead to escape the well-oiled offense of the defending champions Southwestern University (SWU) Baby Cobras, 16-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-18.

The USJ-R Baby Jaguars, on the other hand, flirted with disaster before pulling away with a 25-16, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23 triumph against the USC Warriors.
