At least eight ranking police officials and 20 policemen in Central Visayas were relieved of their respective posts, the Police Regional Office said.
Senior Supt. Renato Dugan, PRO Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development Division chief, said the order from Camp Crame did not state the reason behind the relief of the police officers.
“We can’t say this is still part of the internal cleansing because the order did not state any reason,” he told reporters.
Dugan refused to give the media the list of the newly-relieved personnel, saying PRO-7 recently instituted protocol to no longer release the names of relieved personnel to the public pending any investigation that may be conducted by the Philippine National Police headquarters.
The affected policemen were ordered to report to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit in Camp Crame. Since July 1, 123 policemen from Central Visayas were relieved from their posts.
PNP chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa earlier said there were a number of policemen who are into illegal drugs trade.
