A ROAD project and two potable water programs worth P9 million are reportedly in the pipeline for three barangays in Cebu City this year.

Emma Calvo, officer in charge of the regional Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG-7), said these projects include a P7-million core road project in Barangay Bonbon and two Salintubig projects in Barangays Toong and Budlaan worth P1 million each.

Calvo told the City Council committee on social services and housing that the funding for these projects is channeled to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) due to their office’s fund constraints.

Calvo said they were notified that the funds for the core road project in Barangay Bonbon were allocated to the city government last October 27, but they have yet to verify this.

“For this project, there is no need to have an agreement because the project is now lodged with the local government special fund under the DBM. Our office is concerned with the implementation schedule of the project and the program of works with the detailed engineering design,” Calvo said.

Calvo said they will inform the barangays when the funds for their projects will be downloaded, and it will be the barangays that will coordinate with the planning office for implementation.

Councilor Jose Daluz III urged the DILG to give them updates on the status of the projects so they will be know how it is being implemented.
