Mayor Paz Radaza is more than ready to support the organizers of Miss Universe 2017.

Lapu-Lapu will pull all the stops when Jpark Island Resort and Waterpark in Lapu-Lapu City will play host to the Miss Universe 2017 Swimwear presentation On January 17, 2017.

Radaza said the city goverment plans to put the whole Lapu-Lapu City in a festive mode as a way of welcoming the candidates and organizers of the international beauty pageant.

But as of now, she said she was still waiting for the pageant organizers and Jpark’s management to call for a meeting to determine the scope of preparations that they need to undertake.

“It would definitely (have a) very good impact (on) Lapu-Lapu City as it is putting the city and Cebu on the spotlight,” said Radaza.

She added the international event is a rare opportunity and honor for Cebu.

Radaza hoped that organizers will also allow an arrangement whereby those outside of Jpark Resort can also get to see the candidates prior to the presentation.

She said she would offer the city’s Hoops Dome if the organizers would want it.

She also recommended that a motorcade be held for the candidates to enable residents to see the beauty queens since they cannot afford to enter the Jpark Resort and see them in person.

Jpark earlier announced the area inside the resort is limited and that it will sell tickets to those who want to watch the swimwear presentation.

Radaza added that she will also deploy the barangay tanods (village watchmen) and volunteers to augment the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines personnel who will secure the venue.
