WHEN the holiday season starts, you will most certainly hear the songs of Jose Mari Chan playing everywhere, on repeat.
At the end of this month, the renowned singer-songwriter will be flying to Cebu for a benefit concert entitled, “Jose Mari Chan: In a Heart’s Journey” to serenade his
Cebuano fans on November 30 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
He will be joined by Cebuano performers and artists such as Eva Santos and her family, the award
winning and emerging Children’s Paradise Montessori (CPM) Choir, and the Badjao drummers, who are the beneficiaries of the educational program of the CPMS.
The concert, “Jose Mari Chan in A Heart’s Journey,” is lifted from his 2001 produced album.
It will feature his wide range of songs that Chan has performed through the years, like his classic hit song “Christmas in Our Hearts,” that is still played on repeat every holidays.
The concert is also anchored on Jose Mari’s golden anniversary in the entertainment industry, holding the biggest selling recording artist in the history of Philippine pop music.
Jose Mari’s compositions have also been recorded by the biggest names in the Philippine music industry such as Lea Salonga, The Company, Christian Bautista, Jed Madela, Pilita Corrales, Sharon Cuneta, Regine Velasquez, APO Hiking Society, Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera.
His music has also been performed in concerts by the Manila Chamber Orchestra, as well as published in two volumes of the songbooks entitled “Words and Music: Jose Mari Chan.” (Apple Mae Ta-as)
