Militant groups to hold protest over Marcos’ burial in LMB

Sanlakas and other militant groups in Cebu City are staging a protest against the burial of the late dictator and former president Ferdinand Marcos.

Teody Navea, secretary general of Sanlakas-Cebu, says there will be a noise barrage and candle lighting at Colon Street 4 p.m. today.

The group also plans to place markers at the Plaza Independencia for the nine Supreme Court (SC) justices who voted in favor of the burial of the late dictator and former president at the Libingan ng Mga Bayani.

Navea expressed the group’s disappointment over the burial saying the burial is an insult to all the victims of Martial Law.

“This is not healing, this is not unity,” Navea addressed the Marcoses in an interview.

Jaime Paglinawan, coordinator for Bayan in Central Visayas, also expresses disappointment over the burial.

“They should have waited for the MR (motion for reconsideration). They just opened the wounds suffered by the victims,” Paglinawan said.

Former president Ferdinand Marcos was buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani Friday noon.
