Militant groups hold post-Marcos burial rally

Cebu City–Militant groups held another rally on Friday in Colon Street to protest over the ‘sneaky’ burial of the late dictator and former President Ferdinand E. Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB).

Over a hundred members of Bayan-Central Visayas, Anakbayan, Cebu Citizens Assembly and Pagkaisa ng mga Samahanang Tsuper Operator Nationwide (Piston) held a rally at 10 a.m. and reiterated their stand against the controversial burial.

Niño Olayvar, president of Anakbayan-Visayas led the protest which started at 10 a.m. to last until 12 noon.

“If he is hero then there is no enough reason why his burial became a secret. If he is a hero, then why are the Filipino people not proud of it?” Olayvar said.

Marcos burial at LNMB was allowed by the Supreme Court after nine justices favored the decision.

The decision was met with a lot of protest from different militant groups and even government leaders.

Marcos was buried in at LNMB on November 18 surprising many who described the act as ‘sneaky’, ‘total disrepect of judicial process’ among others.
