PCA to rehabilitate coconut farms

The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) is putting most of its P1.4 billion budget in 2017 to the rehabilitation of coconut farms to reinvigorate the coconut industry in the country.

PCA administrator Avelino “Billy” Andal told a news conference on Wednesday that a large chunk of the 2017 budget would be used in replanting more coconut trees in disaster-affected regions.

The PCA is also set to address the problem of pest infestation in coconut farms, another factor that contributes to losses in the industry.
