Penute-Totoy tops 2nd Smashtime badminton

THE younger pair of Aljun Penute and Aeron Lin Dale Totoy outplayed veterans Jiffy Cabardo and Andrei Peroy, 31-27 Saturday to win the premier Level E crown in the 2nd Smashtime Badminton Tournament at the Racquet Zone Badminton Center in Banilad.

Second runner-up for the same category went to the tandem of Dexter Opalla and Mark Cecille Tongco of Cool Kidz group while third runner-up was the tandem of Fritz Sagaad/Brain Dalce.

The tournament concluded without a whimper of protest compared to the usual tourney brouhaha that every competitive badminton player is familiar with.

Level F Plus winners Erik Mendiola and Jayward Guera.

Baddicts Stars Jayward Guerra and Erik Mediola caprtured the Level F Plus top prize after outplaying Bad Smashers’ Brando Wilson and Marc Gavfrey Fabillar. Third place went to Clifford Rhey Acero and John Dione Delos Reyes.

In the Level F Minus category, Cool Kidz players Lyrden Laborte and Karina Tecson emerged victors over Jhun Ardy Cabrera and Janice Alterado while Nelar Arnejo and John Resca Maramara settled for third place.

Maria Gloria Atuan and Mics Sayson, on the other hand, defeated Grace Lumbang and Carlo Adraincem in the Level G Plus finals. Neil Remedio and Owen Velasco came in third while Rayne Patalinghug and Armand Lumapas finished fourth.

Smashtime scored a big win in the Level G Minus category courtesy of Jary Rago and Jetri Bee Angeles as level champions, Eagie Chong and Kevin Acosta as first runner-up, and teammates Maki Ycoy and Dexter Alvarez as second runner-up. Fourth place went to Jovy Emperio and Joseph Gotual.
Winners received cash, medals and gifts from Tournament Director, Fritz Albores.
