Woman killed in Sta. Fe fire

A 52-year-old woman was killed in a fire that destroyed her house in sitio Gumamela, barangay Ocoy, Sta. Fe in Bantayan island Thursday night.

Arson investigators identified the fatality as Gloria Ilustrisimo.

The victim suffered second degree burns on her face and third degree burns on her chest.
She died of her injuries at 3:45 a.m. Friday.

Investigators said a lit mosquito coil was suspected to have started the fire which was started at 9:30 p.m.

The fire spread quickly and engulfed the entire house which was made of light materials. A report by the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) said firefighters controlled the blaze in 20 minutes.

In Cebu City, a fire broke out yesterday at a building occupied by the Boy Scouts of the Philippines in barangay Lahug.

SFO1 Lowel Opolentisima said the fire started at the building’s stockroom where bystanders said they saw smoke coming out before an explosion was heard.

No one was hurt in the fire. Damage was pegged at P100,000.
