Olmilla, Ruiz win anew

Cebuano duathletes Joland Olmilla and Lucille Ruiz once again asserted their might as they dominated the Tayud Duathlon yesterday in Barangay Tayud, Consolacion town, northern Cebu.

Olmilla and Ruiz sustained their momentum after topping the men’s and women’s crowns of the Consolacion Mountain Bike Duathlon last week.

The 24-year-old Olmilla, who will be heading for Davao next month to compete in the Davao Durian Duathlon, dominated the 15-29 years old category as he outlasted Jimboy Butad and Adrian Baguio, who finished second and third respectively.

“I think my focus in training played a huge role in my victory and also with the help of prayers and the support of my coach, Omega and my mother,” Olmilla said.

Ruiz, on the other hand, took home the women’s elite title by beating Pamela Jane Ruiz and Niña Pasikaran, who clinched the second and third

places, respectively.
Meanwhile, lone Filipino Xterra Pro Joseph Miller got back into groove after losing to Olmilla in the Consolacion event as he snatched the 30-39 years

old tiara.

Pamonito Espinosa and Sixto Quiapo bagged the 40-49 years old and 50 years old and above titles, respectively.
Race organizer John Lyster Maquilan said they were unable to record the time of each finishers as they did not assign a timekeeper due to budget constraints.
