NO NOISE
A public official’s office draws a lot of people wishing to ask for help.
The official’s secretary is always tolerant of the big shots who visit her boss but is temperamental when it comes to common folk.
On one such occasion, while a small group of indigent residents were talking among themselves, the secretary raised her voice to say “Be quiet. this is an office.”
One of those in the group, a lobbyist, scolded her by saying that her boss should come out of his office and address them directly since they are his constituents.
WALKOUT
During a City Council session, the presiding officer had enough of the discussion and banged the gavel, cutting off a lady councilor’s attempt to speak out.
The presiding officer tried to console her and asked what she wanted to say.
But the lady councilor already seemed irked as she replied “ayaw na lang (no thanks)” and walked out of the hall.
SLEEPY INSIDE HALL
The sergeants-at-arms of the session hall are always on the lookout for guests wearing sleeveless shirts, opening their laptops, wearing caps or sleeping since all of these are prohibited.
But these sergeants-at-arms are also guilty of violating these restrictions. During one session, an officer drifted off to sleep.
Before he got pointed out by an official, he woke up and looked across the gallery to check if there was anyone who caught him sleeping.
