Tallo signs with Racal in PBA D-League

TWO-TIME Cesafi MVP Macmac Tallo is raring to prove his worth on the national stage as he prepares to suit up for the Racal Tile Masters in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup.

After missing the Aspirants’ Cup due to his academic responsibilities, the former Southwestern University-Phinma star has already signed a contract with Racal and has been cutting his teeth in rigorous practices under the watchful eyes of head coach Jerry Codinera.

The son of ex-PBA player Mark Tallo says that the transition period had been smooth, owing to the similarities in the system that SWU and now, Racal, utilizes.

“Medyo madali akong nakapag-adjust because yung style ni Coach Jerry (Codinera) is dribble-drive. Same with SWU kaya medyo fit sa akin ang system nya,” shared Tallo.

“Trying my best to overcome any obstacles on and off the court. Survive lang talaga. Yun na yung mindset ko,” bared Tallo who opted to forego his final playing year with the Cobras to try his luck in the D-League.

Still, the fact that this would be the first time that Tallo makes it back to a Manila league after previous stints with both Ateneo and La Salle, is not lost upon the spunky guard.

“Hindi naman maiiwasan yun kasi rookie palang din ako dito eh. Pero siyempre sa lahat nang na-experience ko na laro, I’m sure kakayanin ko,” Tallo confidently said.

After getting used to having the ball in his hands as the King Cobra with SWU, Tallo admitted that he is prepared to accept whatever role is asked of him at this level.

“It doesn’t matter if I start or not as long na makakalaro ako. OK na ako.”
