BIO-FRESH+ and Fusion forged yet another championship showdown after they bested their semifinal opponents in the Architects + Engineers Basketball Club Davies Paints Cup last Saturday at the University of San Carlos Gym.
Bio-Fresh upended Superdry Extreme, 83-52, while Fusion outlasted Sun and Rain, 85-83, to barge into the best-of-three championship series, where they will face one another for the third straight conference.
Reigning league MVP Ayi Armenion led the way for Bio-Fresh with 24 points and 11 rebounds while Justine Aspacio added 21 markers.
For Fusion, team composed of mechanical engineers, this is their fifth straight trip to the finals.
One-time MVP Ed Macasling helped push Fusion to the winner’s circle with 24 points while Kyle Esbra and Kenneth Cadungog helped out with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Fusion held the lead for most of the match but Sun and Rain made a game out of it down the stretch to pull to within two, 83-85. They had several chances to tie the game or even steal the win but failed to convert at the final buzzer.
Richard Badayos led Sun and Rain with 18 points.
