ELEVEN karatedo clubs will be joining the fourth edition of the Mayor Joel Quiño Cup Regional Karatedo Championships on July 28-30 at the Municipality of Compostela Gymnasium in Compostela town, northern Cebu.
Organizer Reynante Vidal, also the sensei of the vaunted Philippine Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai Cebu, which recently won 15 gold medals in the Dumaguete Karatedo Championships last May, said the tournament will feature around a hundred karatekas competing in kata and kumite categories.
Dumaguete City will send two teams, the Dumaguete Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai and the Dumaguete Hakuakai. Other teams are the Siaton Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai Club, Bayawan Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai, Siquijor Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai, Bacolod Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai, Hakuakai Magsaysay of Misamis Oriental, Eskrido Club of Bogo City, JKAB Camotes Island, JKA Talamban and host team Philippine Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai Cebu.
Competing for Philippine Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai Cebu are Rafael Vidal, Enzo Hipulan, Stephen Durano, Sean Bascones, Ricah Faith Vidal, Franzel Yanna Cainila, Ayanna Lein Vidal and Christine Mae Sato.
Helping the organizers with this tournament are the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission, Virgiña Farm, Nature Spring Water and the local government unit of Compostela town.
