After a disappointing stint in Malaysia last May, Bogo City netter Jan Godfrey Seno looks to turn his fortunes around, as he joins five other Cebuanos who will compete in the Palawan Pawnshop – Palawan Express Pera Padala (PPS-PEPP) Olivarez Cup, which starts this August 4 at the Olivarez Sports Center in Sucat, Parañaque.
The 17-year-old Seno, who suffered a second-round exit in the 2nd ITF Terengganu International Junior Championship two months ago, will be vying in the men’s open singles competition and the doubles division, where he is set to team up with fellow Cebuano Marc Norman Enriquez.
Aside from the two, other Cebuanos who will be taking part in the men’s open play are Dumanjug’s Franklin Encarnacion and UAAP Season 77 Rookie of the Year Joshua Kinaadman.
Also confirming their participation to the two-week tennis festival, which is set to pit the top racquet-wielders in the country, are Lapu-Lapu City’s Chad Connor Cuizon, who will be gunning for the 10-unisex and 12-under boys’ titles, and Tiffany Claire Nocos, who will vie for supremacy in the 12-under and 14-under girls’ divisions.
“This is going to be exciting with all the winners of the previous PPS-PEPP legs competing and is raring to prove their worth against each other,” Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivares said in a statement.
The age-group competition will kick off on Aug. 4 to 9 while the men’s and women’s singles and doubles tournaments will be played from Aug. 10 to 15.
