BVR nat’ls
THE LILOAN Redline duo of Jade Becaldo and Rommel Pepito left for Sta. Ana, Cagayan yesterday morning to participate in the Beach Volleyball Republic (BVR) National Championship, which starts Friday at the Anguib Beach.
In an earlier Cebu Daily News report, tournament director Tonyboy Liao said the top three performers in the men’s and women’s divisions will be included in the national team beach volleyball pool for the Southeast Asian competition this September in Singapore.
With that at stake, Becaldo and Pepito are expected to give their all against a tough field that includes three-time UAAP beach volleyball champions National University, Ateneo de Manila University and Far Eastern University.
Even though the duo swept the Ilocos Norte and Cebu legs in the last two months, Liloan Redline head coach Joerem Yu believes that the team needs to take its game a notch higher.
“We are aiming for the title just like everyone else but we need to level up our game because there will be a lot of stronger teams,” Yu shared.
Completing the men’s field in the three-day spike-fest, which ends on July 30, are Rizal Technological University, the University of St. La Salle, Philippine Coast Guard, Bacolod, Iloilo, and the Philippine Navy.
