TWO men identified as accomplices of a suspected drug pusher died in a shootout with police at Sitio Centro, Barangay Langtad, Naga City at 2 a.m. yesterday.
The suspects identified as Welmar Sayaboc and his nephew Steven Sayaboc were residents of Barangay Bairan, Naga City, PO3 Jake Semilla of the Naga City Police Precinct said.
The Sayabocs were identified by relatives who saw their remains at the funeral home.
The target suspect identified as George Canceran is also a resident of Barangay Bairan.
Canceran escaped after sensing the presence of police during the aborted drug bust.
The two Sayabocs were at the drug den when Canceran shouted to them that there were cops.
Recovered from the crime scene were two revolvers and packs and sachets of shabu. Canceran remains at large.
In Barangay Sangi, Minglanila town, Ramon Rabanes was shot down by unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants while he was headed to his mother’s home with his common-law partner at 9 p.m. last Friday.
The back rider shot the 44-year-old Rabanes on the left side of his head, causing him and his 48-year-old partner Marichan Cansancio to crash into the ground. Cansancio sustained minor injuries.
SPO2 Oliver Dacua of the Minglanilla Police Precinct said Rabanes was brought to the Minglanilla District Hospital, but he failed to make it.
Cansancio admitted to police that Rabanes was a drug user.
And in Barangay Napo, Carcar City, police arrested a fish dealer who allegedly dealt in drugs on the side at 6 p.m. last Friday.
The 43-year-old suspect identified as Giovanni Lausa, a resident of the area, sourced his supply from Barangay Ermita in Cebu City. Confiscated from his possession were packs and sachets of shabu worth P200,000.
