The lawyer of self-confessed drug lord Franz Sabalones said yesterday that he already warned a drug suspect allegedly associated with his client to stop dealing in illegal drugs lest he meets his end.
“I advised him to stay away from Talisay City lest the police become interested in him,” lawyer Louie Arma said of drug suspect Manolito Sencil who died in a drug bust in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City, last Thursday afternoon.
Sencil’s cohort identified as Jonathan Bacho also died after he and Sencil fired at police during an aborted drug deal.
The two men were rushed to the nearest hospital but failed to make it. Taken from their possession was shabu worth P115,000.
Arma said he kept reminding Sencil to honor his promise to Sabalones and to him not to deal in drugs anymore.
“He never answered no to me. But I cannot monitor him, and when his house was raided last April, I had no update on him. I asked him if he went back to Talisay and he said no,” Arma said.
Arma said Sencil came to Cebu from Gimenez town, Misamis Occidental, about 30 minutes away from Ozamiz City.
He said Sencil worked as a car wash boy when he met Sabalones.
Arma denied that Sencil worked for Sabalones as a hired gun, saying they were only friends.
