THE TELEPERFORMANCE (TPMC) men’s volleyball squad and the Sykes (SYKS) women’s team emerged champions in the 2017 Inter-BPO Volleyball last Sunday at the OPRRA gym in Cebu City .
TPMC, which finished the elimination round with a spotless 7-0 (win-loss) record, defeated a tough Convergys (CVGS) team in a five-set thriller, 25-22, 20-25, 23-25, 25-17, 15-13, to win the men’s title.
The whole TPMC squad converted 42 of their attacks to go along with eight blocks while forcing CVGS to commit an eye-popping 49 errors.
Former University of Cebu hard-hitter Giovanni Devero of TPMC was adjudged as the tournament’s Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) while Juniel Laway of Tech Mahindra (TCMA) took home the season MVP award.
TCMA bagged the third place honors in men’s play after scoring a 27-25, 25-27, 16-25, 25-20, 15-5 triumph over SYKS.
In the distaff side, SYKS also went unbeaten with a 5-0 mark in the elimination round and continued its dominance in the finals with a 26-24, 21-25, 25-21, 25-20 win over Calltek to take home the crown
Ex Southwestern University player Shiela Bongo of SYKS was named as the finals MVP while Elizabeth Emnace of Calltek pocketed the season MVP plum.
