THE PHILIPPINE Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) National Collegiate 3×3 Basketball Championship kicks off the first of five regional legs here in Cebu City on Oct. 21.
PCCL executive director Joe Lipa made the announcement.
According to Lipa, teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Lipa explained that there still a regular PCCL tournament at the end of the year and added that they are doing this to support the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas’ (SBP) thrust to develop 3-on-3 basketball, which has now been included in the roster of sports in the quadrennial Olympics.
Ten squads from the Visayas region are set to compete. They will be divided into two groups of five, and will be playing a single round-robin during the classification phase. The quarterfinals, semifinals and the championship rounds will all be knockout games.
The winning squad will advance to the National Grand Finals and will earn a trip to Manila to represent the region against the regional qualifiers and two squads from the National Capital Region. The Grand Finals will be held in February 2018.
