PHILIPPINE Red Cross Board of Governor Joy Roble reached out to the students of Abellana National High on his birthday last Monday.
Around 500 high school students benefited from the distribution of snack packs from the Philippine Red Cross Cebu City chapter, which also conducted a bloodletting activity at the Robinson’s Galleria on the same day where a hundred people turned up to donate blood.
Roble said this is how he celebrates his birthday.
“Palahi ni aron sab daghan ang makabenipisyo ilabi na kadtong mga nagkinahanglan og dugo (This is a unique way so that more people will benefit especially those who need blood),” said Roble.
In an interview with reporters, he said that donating blood will help save lives and allow donors to know their blood type, especially regular blood donors who will develop new bone marrow that will help make one healthy and look younger.
Roble plans to conduct more bloodletting activities in several areas in the Visayas considering that there is a great demand for blood.
Students, Roble’s friends and batchmates and employees of Roble Shipping Lines were among the blood donors.
Roble graduated in Abellana National High School in 1986.
