RED TAPE AT DFA

Netizens were infuriated over the turtle-like pace of processing of applications for passports at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Cebu even when applicants submitted their requests online.

Charlene Tyler said, “This is a very big problem in Cebu. It’s taking us months to get our passports. Pity for those who need it urgently. My cousin even had to go to Tacloban to process hers.”

Jomic Pepits made suggestion to DFA. “I think DFA should hire more people so the process of obtaining passports will get faster. Those who are supposed to work abroad have missed the opportunities because of the delays.”

Ghay Reputante Daclan said, “I have just been enlightened on why this problem exists. I have been trying to set an appointment since July but all slots until December are already taken. I hope this gets fixed.”

Boni Brendi Abuyog, meanwhile, had a different perspective. “The country is trying to improve its systems and processes, doing away from old habits of lining up at dawn. Let’s not try to discredit the advantages of a new and improved system.“
