CHECKPOINT LIMITS

The body search conducted by police assigned in Mandaue City’s checkpoints drew raised eyebrows and objections from netizens.

Zeroko Lestat said, “With the rampant drug problem in the country, I think the present time calls for a tough measure. Let us bear with it because it’s for the greater good.”

Alex Montero commented, “It should only be done by plain view. Body search or letting the vehicle’s owner open their cars or motorcycles should be a no-no.”

FierryMark-Jennelyn Panggo said, “The checkpoints are okay. It is expected that police officers will check our bags. Let’s be thankful, instead, that there are checkpoints because anytime, anywhere crimes are bound to happen.”

Francisco Ybas Benemerito said, “Those who are hiding something inside their bags should be the only ones to get scared of checkpoints. Body search by many establishments so it isn’t much of an issue.”
