DEATH PENALTY DEBATE
Pinoy netizens reacted strongly to United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres’ declaration that they will move to abolish capital punishment around the world since it “has no place in the 21st century.”
Cee Jez wrote, “So, UN will just allow the criminals do their way? And we will just be like, yeah, just arrest them and put them in prison? The funny part is, we, the victims of these criminals, are the ones feeding them in prison through our taxes.”
Omar Nacorda posted on Twitter, “Well, death penalty is legal in the number one supplier of oil. And no one is talking about that.”
A netizen named Habiyas Corpuz said, “With the extra-judicial killings going on, the Philippines does not need a formal death penalty legislation.”
Prison Planet said, “Death penalty is proper penalty for heinous crimes with indisputable evidence, but it should not hidden from the view of the public.”
