SIBONGA nabbed their second win in a row after beating Naga, 87-78, in the 2nd Samsam Gullas Cup last Sunday at the Talisay Sports Complex.
After edging Carcar City, 84-82, in their opening game on Saturday, the cagers from Sibonga kept their momentum and waylaid Naga behind the splendid performance of Gerald Ignacio, who had 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists and four steals.
In other games, the defending champions Talisay City bounced back by upending Carcar, 100-85.
After suffering a 71-77 loss to Minglanilla on Saturday, Talisay wasted no time in getting on the winning track as they rode the spectacular performance of Jay Deiparene, who tallied a whopping 32 points on top of three boards, a block and a whopping seven steals.
Minglanilla, on the other hand, could not build on their morale-boosting win on opening night as they got beaten by San Fernando, 67-85.
San Fernando’s Jhonson Saramosing was the biggest thorn on Minglanilla’s side as he nearly had a rare triple-double with 10 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and four steals.
