MCWD clients can pay water bills with Visa cards in 2018

WITH the use of a Visa credit card, one can soon enjoy the convenience of paying his or her water bill anywhere in the world.

Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) and the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) entered into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to allow water bills to be paid using a Visa credit card starting next year.

Using the Internet Payment Gateway system, MCWD customers just need to log on to MCWD’s website www.mcwd.gov.ph and key in their account details.

At the MCWD main office on Magallanes St., Cebu City, customers can also pay with their Visa credit cards, saving them from the hassle of carrying cash around.

“I’m sure that the process that you (DBP) have introduced will make it very much more expedient and easier for our customers to deal with us,” said MCWD chairman of the Board of Directors Joel Mari Yu during the MOA signing at the MCWD Board Room recently.

DBP executive vice president Anthony Robles said the government bank’s priorities for digital infrastructure are power and water bills payment.

Before the end of the year, they will also offer mobile phone payment transactions.

Soon, DBP will allow additional payment channels, like automated teller machine networks and other credit card companies.
“Mararamdaman po ninyo, luluwag ang inyong lobby. Ang mga customers hindi na pipila,” Robles assured during the signing ceremony. (You will see lesser customers lining up in your office lobby to pay their bills).

MCWD acting general manager Noel Dalena said MCWD has been working on making credit card payments available for customers for over a decade ago now.
