Cebu Centre for Dance (CCD) brings classic fairy tales on stage with “Once Upon A Tutu: A Ballet of Fairy Tales”; CCD’s original grand recital piece happening on Dec. 2, 6 PM at Ayala Center Cebu Cinema 1.
A ballet performance with two acts, “Once Upon a Tutu” interprets seven different fairy tales from the master storytellers Hans Christian Andersen and the Grimm Brothers. The tales featured include The Snow Queen, Hansel and Gretel, The Emperor and the Nightingale and The Little Mermaid among others.
“Once Upon a Tutu” will feature original choreography from CCD’s senior faculty Mary Poblete-Chan, Carmel Cabaero, and Johanna Mangubat. Guest faculty members and associates Rufo Jeffrey Tapang, Monica Villarica, Megan Chan, and Marius Centino will also be part of the main cast.
Guest artist Mark Anthony Grantos, a former company member of Ballet Philippines, will also be dancing alongside CCD’s featured dancers including Sabrina Bogard, Monica Villarica, Giselle Abalos, Megan Chan and Niña Javelosa, as well as students in classical ballet, contemporary, and hip-hop.
