OLYMPIAN boxer and current WBO international minimumweight champion Mark Anthony “Little Boy” Barriga continues to make a name for himself in the professional boxing scene by logging his eighth straight victory last Saturday evening at the Makati Cinema Square in Makati City, Metro Manila.
This after the 24-year old Panabo City native scored a unanimous decision win against fellow newcomer Glenne Calacar in a 10-round non-title showdown .
Barriga, who made his professional debut fight in Cebu City last year at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu in the under card of Who’s Next? Fight card of the Omega Pro Sports International, is still unbeaten.
He beat Melvin Manangquil via unanimous decision in his pro debut. His only knockout victory was against Marlou Sandoval in a fight held in Zamboanga del Norte last June.
In his fight last Saturday evening, two judges scored the bout 97-92 and one had it 98-91 all in favor of Barriga, who competed in the 2012 London Olympics where he qualified in the round of 16 of the boxing event.
Calacar suffered his second defeat against three wins and six draws.
